About Us

I take great pleasure in introducing my newly registered firm “GeoSync” (Registration No. CONSULT/2305 dated 26 March 2022). GeoSync is a collaborative platform for consulting, training, and research in complex geomechanics of tunnels, subways, highways, mega slopes, bridges, dams, and open-pit and underground mines.

The ever-evolving regional neotectonics and the climate change is continually affecting Pakistan’s local geomechanical landscape posing great challenges to the upcoming infrastructural development in/around mountain ranges of Karakoram, Himalaya, Hindukush, Suleman, Kirthar, etc., and subduction zones of Gawadar, Pasni and Ormara.
The recent failures of bridges, subsidence of highways, settlement of buildings, collapse of excavation support systems, and ever increase in size and frequency of geohazards (landslides, rock falls, debris flows, glacial lake outbursts) clearly highlights our geomechanical challenges.
The several geomechanical surprises we were faced with in the recent past such as collapse of bridge near Hunza due to Shishper glacial lake outbursts, very long closure of KKH due to Attabad Landslide, several deaths in Gayari Avalanche, massive infrastructural damage due to Hattian Bala Lake outburst, etc., etc., highlights the massive gaps in our capacity to comprehend the magnitude of geomechanical problems, define suitable performance requirements, adequate engineering designs, real-time monitoring for geohazards, structural health, etc.
The challenges to our mineral growth are even more critical. Pakistan, though blessed with several world class deposits of gold & copper, chromite, lead & zinc, coal, gas & oil, industrial minerals, gemstones, etc., is very far from harvesting the benefits of mineral growth. The underlying causal factors are inadequate mineral resource management systems, lack of capacity in knowledge, techniques & technologies for mineral exploration, mining studies, mine designs, mining operations, mineral processing, tailings management, etc.
